Casas del Bosque winemaking team is responsible for the consistency and the quality of our wines. In addition, they print a distinctive stamp to all our lines, which has allowed to obtain multiple awards granted by increasingly demanding critics, both in Chile and abroad.
The winemaker Alberto Guolo is originally from Monselice, Italy. He graduated as vine grower and winemaker at the University of Padua and accomplished a Bachelor in Science, specializing in Marketing and Administration, at the University Ca’ Foscari in Venice. He has worked in different wineries in Italy, New Zealand and California. He arrived in Chile in 2016 and joined Casas del Bosque’s winemaking team in 2017 with the idea of complementing the work of the winemaker Meinard Bloem in the production of our cold climate wines. In addition, Alberto is the owner of the winery Vini Monticello – Azienda Guolo, located in the Italian Veneto region. The vineyard was founded by his grandfather and produces diverse varieties, such as Merlot, Raboso Piave, Refosco, Carmenère, Friulano, Pinot Bianco and, most importantly, Prosecco.
With more than 25 years of experience in the international wine industry, Sam Harrop MW, a New Zealander Master of Wine, joins Casas del Bosque team to share his knowledge, expertise and holistic vision of the wine business to help us maximize the potential of our vineyard whilst guiding us towards an increasingly sustainable and authentic approach.
Sam began his career in the early 1990’s as a winemaker in New Zealand, training at Villa Maria and Esk Valley Estate. Later he gained further experience in California (Littorai Wines) and Australia (Rosemount Estate – pre Southcorp takeover). Since then he has only added experience and knowledge through his activities.
Sam is excited about this challenge with Casas del Bosque where he seem huge potential to help the talented and international winemaking team (headed up by Meinard Bloem), shape the wine styles to maximize a unique sense of place/ expression, from the cool climate vineyards of the magical Casas del Bosque estate.
Hernán has worked as Consultant Winemaker in the field of sparkling wines at Casas del Bosque since 2015. He has more than 28 years of experience in the industry in viticulture and enology.
